Why should I get my newborn baby photographed?
The first few weeks with your newborn are truly precious. They will never be this tiny again, and before you know it, they’ll have changed so much. The ideal time for a newborn session is within the first 5–14 days after birth, when babies are naturally sleepy and love to curl into those beautiful poses. After this time, babies become more alert, creating a more natural, unposed style of photography. A newborn session is about preserving these fleeting moments and all the tiny details you’ll never want to forget. It’s also the perfect opportunity to update your family portraits and celebrate this beautiful new chapter.
Who can be photographed at my baby’s newborn session?
Your newborn session includes family and sibling portraits, so both parents and any siblings are welcome to be photographed. Grandparents are also welcome if you would like to include them. Family portraits are taken at the beginning of the session, allowing the remainder of the session to focus on your beautiful new baby.
When should I book my newborn session?
The best time to book your newborn session is during your pregnancy to ensure availability around your due date. I’ll reserve your due date in my calendar, and once your little one arrives, simply get in touch, so that we can organise a session date for you.
Where and when will the session take place?
Your newborn session will take place in my home studio, located in Hoppers Crossing. Sessions are typically scheduled on weekends. Please arrive 15 minutes before your session so we can get you settled and begin on time.
How long will the session take?
Your newborn session will take approximately 2 hours. This allows plenty of time for feeding, settling, cuddles and breaks in between poses. Newborn sessions don’t always go exactly to plan, and that’s perfectly okay. We work at your baby’s pace to create a relaxed experience and capture beautiful images of your little one and your family.
What happens after my session?
After your session, your images will be carefully selected and professionally edited in preparation for your viewing and ordering appointment. Please allow 7–10 days for this process. At your appointment, we will go through your beautiful images together and help you select the collection that best suits your family. A range of prints, canvases and products will be available to view, and I will guide you every step of the way. Once your selection has been finalised, a 50% deposit is required to begin your order, with the remaining balance due upon collection of your artwork. Please allow approximately 2 weeks for your order to be completed and ready for collection.
What should I bring to my newborn session?
Upon booking your session, you will have access to my beautiful wardrobe collection, filled with gorgeous newborn outfits, wraps and props that have been carefully sourced from Australia-wide suppliers. I also have a selection of stunning white and cream maternity gowns available for expecting mothers, as well as beautiful dresses in a range of sizes for little girls to wear during sibling and family portraits. My goal is to make your experience as relaxed and stress free as possible. I understand how busy life can be with a newborn, so I provide everything you need to create beautiful, timeless images of your growing family.
