Newborn/Family Session FAQs
Why should I get my newborn baby photographed?
The first few weeks with your newborn are so precious. They will never be this tiny again or stay this little for very long. Ideally, it is recommended that newborns are photographed in the first few weeks of life, anywhere from birth to 14 days. They can still be photographed after this time, however as your baby starts to grow, they will change very quickly and start to become more alert. This will lead us to more of an unposed session. Capturing your baby during their first few weeks of life is something so special that you can always look back on. It’s also a perfect excuse to update your family portraits.
Who can be photographed at my baby’s newborn session?
Since your newborn session include family portraits as well, both parents and any other children are welcome. Grandparents are also welcome. Family and sibling portraits are done first and then the main focus is on your baby.
When should I book my newborn session?
Anytime during your pregnancy is the best time to book your newborn session. We will schedule your due date on my calendar & then get you to touch base with me once bubs is born.
Where and when will the session take place?
The session will take place in my home studio in Hoppers Crossing. Newborn sessions will normally be scheduled on a weekend. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes before your session.
How long will the session take?
Your session goes for approximately 2-3 hours. We ensure enough time is allocated to feed and settle your baby in between poses. Newborn shoots may not always go to plan, however we will be sure to work around your little one to get the best possible images of you & your family.
Do I need to provide anything?
Upon booking with us, you will have access to our wardrobe full of gorgeous newborn outfits, wraps and props that have been carefully sourced Australia wide. We also have stunning white maternity gowns that can be used for pregnant mothers and also for your newborn/family session.
What happens after my session?
Once your images are taken, the best images will be carefully selected and edited for your ordering appointment. Please allow 7-10 days. Upon returning to the studio, we will go through your images and carefully select a collection that best suits you. We have a range of prints, canvases and products on display. We will guide you every step of the way. Once your selection is made, we require a 50% deposit and then the balance on pick up.
